Teen Leadership

Leadership starts with you.

Six instructor-led modules that help teenagers communicate clearly, serve others, make thoughtful decisions, and take responsibility. Students learn through discussion, realistic scenarios, and hands-on team challenges.

Built on the Vanguard Model, each 60–90 minute module moves from learning with peers to making decisions in a scenario and practicing through a group activity. Companion student workbooks carry the learning into reflection, real-world application, and conversations with a parent or guardian.

   Leadership Starts With You

   Leadership is not a title. Leadership is behavior.

   • Recognize leadership qualities and positive influence in everyday life
   • Listen to different perspectives and make decisions as a team
   • Practice leadership through the Lost Hikers scenario and a team challenge

   Leadership Through Service

   Great leaders serve others before they serve themselves.

   • Understand how helping others builds leadership
   • Identify ways to support and encourage a team
   • Practice servant leadership during a group challenge

   The Power of Communication

   Leaders create understanding.

   • Practice active listening and clear directions
   • Experience how unclear messages affect a team
   • Ask questions and check that others understand

   Making Good Decisions

   Leaders make choices that help people move forward.

   • Gather information and consider consequences
   • Use the S.T.E.P. decision model to evaluate options
   • Practice making decisions under pressure

   Owning Your Actions (Accountability)

   Leaders don't make excuses. They make improvements.

   • Recognize the difference between excuses and responsibility
   • Practice owning mistakes and keeping commitments
   • Use Own It, Fix It, Improve It to focus on solutions

   Solving Problems Like a Leader

   Every problem is an opportunity to think, learn, and improve.

   • Identify a problem and organize the facts
   • Generate and evaluate solutions using the S.O.L.V.E. model
   • Apply problem-solving skills during a team challenge
